Vintage Hamper Makeover ~ Lampshade Re-do ~ Rose Accent Pillow

Happy Monday everyone!

Well, I was so disappointed that the Daytona 500 wasn't able to run yesterday because of all the rain, so they postponed it for noon today.....well....it's STILL raining there, so know it's scheduled for 7 p.m. ~ the forcast shows the rain to be moved out by 3 p.m., so we'll see. It will take them at least a couple of hours or so to get the track completely dried and ready for racing!

So, instead of watching the race, I went ahead and painted the vintage hamper that I showed you in my last post....it's now painted a soft pretty pale pink, and I am soooo loving it!!

I also gave a lampshade I found at Goodwill some time ago a transformation.... the fabric I used is from some pretty off-white Irish Damask linen napkins I picked up at a thrift store this past fall...and some similar colored gimp trim, and a slightly darker fringe trim around the bottom. Very simple and so elegant ~ I haven't decided if I'm going to keep this shade, or offer it up on one of my selling sites....I don't have a base for it yet, so maybe I'll go on a hunt for the perfect one...the one it's shown displayed on now, is one that I have a pink shade for, and want to keep that one on it, as it matches another shade that I also have in the room.

This morning I finially got down to work and started creating some new things to offer up on both Ebay and Etsy....it's been probably almost 2 weeks since I've done any sewing!! Just didn't have the ambition to do so, I guess, but today I'm finally starting to feel a bit in the creative mood :) This sweet accent pillow is made using 2 lovely Mary Rose prints, both of which are no longer being made, which is such a shame! You'll also find pretty Venice lace trim, and a bow of Vintage pink ribbon. I'll be listing this sweet pretty either later today or tomorrow on Ebay.

I have a hair appointment in just over an hour...finially getting it colored again to hide that "you know what" hair we ladies aren't too fond of, lol :) Hubby says I should just "let it go", What??? Oh no!! I'll keep coloring it as long as there is hair on this head, LOL :)

My Recent Goodwill Finds

Hello everyone! I wanted to share with you some more recent treasures that I found at my local GW store.

First up are these beautiful vintage sconces ~ they don't have any makers mark on the back ~ most of these style of sconces are either made by Syroco, Homco, or Burwood...I always love finding them, and giving them a shabby transformation. These will most likely be painted a lovely cottage white. Typically I offer them up on one of my selling sites, but I think I might be keeping this pair for myself, as I like the height of them...

Also found this sweet smaller vintage wicker laundry hamper.... I plan to paint it a pretty soft pale pink. It has a wooden top, and I wish I knew how to paint roses, because it would look so sweet with painted pink roses on top!!

Today I have a baby shower to go to for my niece this afternoon ~ should be lots of fun! And I get to see my other niece's little baby boy, which I haven't seen for a while, and I'm sure he's just growing like a weed :)

Blog Changes

Hi Everyone!

I've decided to make some changes to my blog ~ I pretty much changed Everything! From the background color...new header picture...and from a 3 column back to a 2 column.

I wanted to take advantage of using the collage aspect on Picnik, before it shut down for good, which is where I created my previous blog header ~ I still incorporated 2 of my pretty babies, Annie and Estella, as well as 1 of the MANY pillows, Christmas Stockings, and Lap Quilts that I've created over the years, a recent photo of our home's exterior, outside pic of our covered porch, that was set up for photos for a Pink Saturday post, and some pics of our Living room, Laundry/Mud room, and the fireplace. I really like the look and feel of it, as I think it best represents me :)

Also, I've gone from having my background pink, now to white, but still having all the lettering and etc... in pink.....and wanted to go back to having just a 2 column blog instead of 3, as it makes it more simple and not so crowded looking. Plus it helps makes the photos in my posts larger, which I like much better.

So, what do you all think of the changes to my blog? I would love to hear from you!

Many of you know that there is a new tool for following your favorite blogs, called Linky FOLLOWERS ~ it's free to sign up, and a great way to find even more blogs out there! I hope you will sign up and follow me. I think it's a shame that those who do not have a Blogger account will lose the Google Friend Connect :( Thankfully, I won't....but there has been rumors that GFC will eventually be fazed out! So I'm so glad there is the Linky Followers!!

Well, I've been on this computer for waaaaay to long today, so I think I will take a break for now, and check back later today to see what everyone has been up to.

Newest Goodwill Finds

Hello Everyone ~ I hope you have all been having a great weekend so far. Yesterday, Hubby & I drove up to Big Rapids (Michigan), which is about a 45 minute drive from our house, and picked up our oldest Son, Brian, who is going to college up there at Ferris State University, and took him out to Lunch at Applebees. And for those of you who don't know, this week it was announced that the Hockey Team at Ferris is ranked #1 in the Nation!! Way to go Bulldogs!!!

I thought I would share with you a couple of neat treasures I found this past week at 2 of our local Goodwill stores...

First is this pair of Vintage Homco wall sconces....later when we get much warmer weather so I can do some spray painting, I plan to paint them a nice cottage white.

I love the sweet swirls and floral design these have...

And this is my favorite find..a vintage metal & wood candleabra!! This thing is quite heavy!

this too will be painted white when I am able to do so, and I'm thinking of finding some fab vintage crystal prisms to hang from each of the 5 candle holders!! Can't wait to do the transformation on this beauty!! Don't worry, once I have, I'll be sure to post pics of it for you guys :)

Well, that's about it for today's post....I'm going to just do some relaxing today, and watch the qualifying for the Daytona 500 this afternoon.

Happy Valentines!

Just a quick little post to wish all my blogging friends a Happy Valentines tomorrow!
Hubby came home from work tonight with a dozen light pink roses and a box of chocolates for me!! I've already had a couple of the chocolates, but will save the rest for tomorrow, for Valentines :)

I also wanted to show you all this cute photo of my Grandson, Seth, holding onto my Jeff Gordon, 24, can cooler ~ his bottle is inside of it, which he is drinking from, lol :) I told my daughter that I'm training him to be a Jeff Gordon fan, heeeheee!! For those of you who are new to my blog, I am a HUGE Nascar fan, and an even HUGER? Jeff Gordon fan! The season starts up this Saturday night (18th), with the Bud Shootout. I can't wait!!!

Seth turned 5 months old on the 10th! Gosh, he's just growing so fast!

Time for the Dress Form Party!

Hello everyone! Today is the day for the start of "The Polka Dot Closet's Dress Form Party" Thank you to Carol, our Hostess with the Mostess!! For hosting this wonderful new Blog party.

Here is my lovely lady Dress Form, all ready to join the ball ~ She's all decked out in lovely pink and roses...

The inspiration I got for dressing my manniquin/dress form, is from the very talented Janet at Shabbyfufu ~ she designs and creates the most exquisite ladies you have Ever seen ....Click HERE to take you to see some of the beauties she made.

She's wearing one of my favorite Vintage Rose covered hats...

And you will find more roses around the top of her....most of these are from another Vintage hat that I had....simply removed the roses and glued them onto her body...Yummy! Underneath the roses is a Vintage crochet collar...

And of course, no party or ball would be complete without wearing some Bling ~ We've chosen this large Vintage Rhinestone Brooch....

Over the top of her skirt she is wearing a Vintage rose apron....just to be safe, in case she get's a "little tipsy" at the party and accidently spills some champange or something....ya never know with her, lol :) She is also carrying a lovely little bag made with lots of vintage lace trims and a single vintage rose..

Here's a better view of her skirt, which is a Vintage pink petticoat ~ love all the layers of ruffles and flounce....perfect for twirling around the dance floor....goodness, hopes she doesn't get too dizzy :)

Okay Carol, she's all ready to come.....we're just waiting for the carriage to come and take her to the party :)

Ruffles and Lace and Eyelet...Oh My!

Hello everyone!! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend ~ we've been having such nice warm weather here in Michigan! It's hard to believe it's still winter, lol :) There's hardly no snow on the ground!

I've been doing a little bit of changing in our home...trying to incorporate more white, and a little less pink.....not to worry, I am still decorating in pinks, as that is my most favorite color, but just not so much of it :) I've removed the vintage rose Valances that were hanging in our living room windows, and have replaced them with these beautiful white ruffled panels. The pair that you see on the left window I purchased from a seller on Ebay, and the pair on the right window I purchased at Target....they were the LAST ones they had, so I am soooo glad to have been able to get them!! I saw a seller on Ebay that was offering 1 panel for $30! I am afraid that when all the Target stores no longer have any available, they will be popping up on Ebay for a very high price :( It seems that is always how it is.

Each window is first layered with a Vintage white rose patterned lace panel, followed by the fab ruffled panels, and then finished with pretty white eyelet valances........These valances were originally skirts that I found at Goodwill! I simply cut away the top part of the skirts, opened up the side seam, then stitched a small rod pocket at the top, and tah dah!

Here are close-ups of them....sorry the pics aren't better, but it is a rather cloudy day today, so not much light comes into the Living room very well because of our covered wrap-around porch...

Here are a couple of things I found while doing a little thrift shopping Friday morning.....this sweet cottage white little birdhouse....

And a yummy smelling Bill Blass candle in pink.

Vintage Mirrors for White Wednesday

Hello Everyone, and Happy 1st day of February!

Today I am joining Kathleen, over at FADED CHARM, for White Wednesday.

I thought I would share with you some of the mirrors that I have either been given, found at Goodwill, or at my local Antique store....and that have all been given a shabby white makeover to.

First up is this wonderful heavy metal mirror that I found at Goodwill....I actually didn't have to do a thing to this one, as it was already painted a nice cottage white, but just needed a good cleaning. I did display this on the wall in our Living room, but have just recently placed it on my fireplace overmantle.

One of my favorite style of mirrors to look for are these vintage filigree metal mirrors...they are usually found in either gold or silver, and I always paint them white....sometimes pink :) These next 2 photos show 2 that are displayed in my Vintage cabinet in our Dining room...

Another style I am always on the hunt for are Vintage Syroco mirrors...I have 2 of these, this one below is displayed in our Master Bedroom....

and the other is in our Living Room....the sweet little mirror is a Goodwill find, and the other mirror below it was found at one of the local Antique stores a few years ago....and yes, that is our Big Black Box tv you see....there's no hiding it, so one must "work around" it, lol :)

This fabulous large mirror was given to us by my father-in-law....originally brown wood, I painted it white, of course :) This mirror hung in our Dining room for a few years, but when I moved the fireplace & overmantle in there, I had to move the mirror into the living room.

And lastly, is another sweet Vintage filigree mirror...this one I've displayed on the coffee table, and have placed a couple of Goodwill candleholders on it...oh yes, gotta love Goodwill!

Goodwill Treasures ~ Past & Present

Happy Friday everyone! I am so glad the weekend is finally here, but they are calling for snow tonight and into tomorrow ~ Yesterday on the news they talked about the blizzard of '78, where we got several feet of snow ~ I was about 14 years old, and I can remember my father having to literally plow his way home from work ~ he worked at Steelcase in Grand Rapids, which on a normal day would taken around a half hour to 45 minutes...but on that day it took him several hours! I can remember looking out our living room window, and watching him plow his way down our dead-end gravel road, slowly making his way to our driveway! It was just unreal!

Okay, on to today's post....yesterday while out doing my weekly grocery shopping, I stopped at 2 of our local Goodwill stores...one in Newaygo and the other in Fremont, and found some things to bring back home with me....sometimes when I stop to look, I end up leaving with nothing...and feeling depressed, lol :)

First up is the wonderful metal wall hanging that I got for just $3....I plan to paint it white once we have warmer weather here in Michigan. I may even put it up on the ceiling in our Dining room as a ceiling medallion for our chandelier.

and I also found another vintage filigree picture frame (LOVE these), a 12" pillow insert, and a vintage filigree sconce...

These next photos I am going to show you are of some of the past treasures that I found at GW.... first, is the lamp base and shade, which I redid with some soft pink fabric, gimp and rose...the mirror to the right is also a GW find...

Everything displayed on this table all came from Goodwill, except for the tablecloth ~ I redid this shade in the same pink fabric to match the other one...

These next 2 photos show my most favorite GW finds....all we had to do to this wall cabinet was add the beadboard to the back and paint it white...

and this cabinet only needed to be painted white...

So the next time you are "out-n-about" and you see a Goodwill store, be sure to stop in and take a look around, as you never know what treasures might be waiting there just for you!

I am sooooo way behind on getting this post ready ~ I wanted to get it done and up over a week ago, but just kept having other things to do ~ so.....I finally decided on what to make for this particular Giveaway...I wanted it to be something for both Valentines, and something that could be kept out all year long. A while back I found 2 cute holders designed for those candle jars we like to use, but aren't exactly very pretty to look at ~ they are pink with 2 cut-out hearts, and are a bit "shabbied" up, which is fab!! I am keeping one for myself, and offering the other for the Giveaway.....next, I created a Sachet stacker, made with 3 different pink fabrics ~ the top and middle sachets are filled with only wonderfully fragrant Lavender buds, and the bottom is filled with fiber filling and Lavender.

Isn't this so pretty in pink!

The Sachet stacker has a beautiful Vintage pink millinery rose and rosebud on the top, as well as 2 pink parchment roses, little pearl stamens, Vintage pink organza fluers, Vintage ribbon, and a pink Filigree heart charm.

The fabrics are, top, a sweet pink dotted print, middle, a soft pink floral print, and bottom, a pretty tossed pink roses print...

Ruffled Bedskirt turned Tablecloth

Hello everyone! I've been meaning to do this particular post for a while, but kept forgetting to take pictures for it, and so today I FINALLY did, lol :) I had purchased one of these ruffled bedskirts for my bed, as I had seen one on a blog (forget which one), and loved it....then a short time later while visiting some blogs, I saw one that had used it for a tablecloth, and fell in love with the idea. So I purchased another (from Overstock.com), put it on my table, but felt something just wasnt' quite right.....first of all, all bedskirts only have 3 sides, and I wasn't liking the fabric used for the top...too shiny and sheer for my tastes...plus I have an Oak table, so it was showing thru. Soooo.... while out thrift shopping I found a nice white linen tablecloth that would work perfectly. I placed the tablecloth onto the table, and cut around it just below the top of the table...then I cut off the top of the bedskirt, and did a simple stitch to apply the ruffled part of the bedskirt to the tablecloth. Where the ends met, I just simply overlaped a bit, tucked it under, and finished stitching it in place, and tah dah!

You can see the raw edges of where I sewed the 2 together, which is just fine with me, as it gives it a more shabby chic look to it :)

These next photos are just a few more that I took, while taking photos of the tablecloth....my Dining room is my favorite room in the whole house...I just love the feel and look of the room :)

New Pretty Rose Plates~Pillows~New pic of Grandson

Hello everyone! Goodness, it's been a week since I last posted! I've just been super busy working and creating away in my little sewing room, which I LOVE to do! However, the room literally looks like a tornado went thru it ~ fabric is tossed everywhere on the antique bed, lol :)

I recently purchased these 2 beautiful little Austrian pink rose plates from Debbi at Marionberry Cottage. If you haven't visited her website, you should, as she has some really beautifully handmade and vintage items.

Here's a close-up of one of the plates....aren't the roses just the sweetest, and I'm loving the scalloped edge ♥

Below are 3 of the newest cottage chic pillows that I currently have availble on Ebay ~ you can click the link over on my right sidebar to take a little peek if you like :)

This first pillow is the newest offering, and it also was listed using the new selling template that I just recently purchased ~ it is so sweet and soooo perfect for using to sell my items! Click HERE to take a peek. The pillow features 9 fabric squares with only single roses and rose bouquet prints.

This next one is a rather large sized pillow, and I used 5 pretty vignettes from the Rose Garden Tea fabric by Northcott, which is one of the most favorite prints that I just love!

This is my first heart shaped pillow for this year that I have created...just perfect for giving to someone special this Valentines ♥

And of course, I just had to show you the lasted picture of my precious Grandson, Seth ~ this pic was taken about a week ago....he's laying on one of the things we got for him for Christmas. Just look at that adorably sweet face!

Happy First day of 2012!

Hello everyone!! I can't believe it's the first day of 2012, Wow!! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Years ~ we stayed home...had Xmas dinner here with me and my "boys", and Amber, Kevin and sweet little Seth came by later for desert. For New Year's eve, I did what I've done since I was a teenager, and that's watch Dick Clark's New Years Rockin' Eve. A few minutes after midnight, I went straight to bed, lol :) And slept in until 9 a.m.!

I've been busy working in my little sewing room on some new pretties for this New Year, including the 2 pretties you see below....both are made using Rachel Ashwell fabric squares....the first will be listing tomorrow ( Monday ), and the second is now currently listed as of this afternoon....I've also made a sweet lap quilt using these squares.....one of my sweet International buyers is VERY interested in it, so I won't be offering it up for sale....unless she changes her mind, lol :) You can see a photo of it over on my left sidebar...it's the 2nd photo....the first is another quilt I've done, that has been sold a while ago. I'm also getting started on making some Valentine pretties too....Yup, it's on from one Holiday to the next...never a moments rest...but that's okay, as I LOVE what I do!

All the christmas decorations have been packed up and put away until next Christmas...except for the tree, as that had seen it's last christmas...time for a new one, and hopefully when the season comes around again I will be able to find just the right one...something with the same height, but a bit narrower would be great!

Pretty Embellished Handtowels and Sweet little Lap Quilts

Hi everyone! I've been busy doing some sewing & creating these past few days ... below are some pics of some of the items that I have created.

I've embellished 3 pretty handtowels, which are perfect for gifts this holiday season...this first one I just finished today, and will be listing later today...

These next two are all done up in the more traditional colors of Christmas...all 3 are made from a 100% Egyptian cotton handtowel in crisp white....

This is a sweet little lap quilt that I made a couple or so years ago, and have had it displayed in my home....I have decided to part with it, as I do have another larger quilt that I created for myself a month or so ago.... this will be listed on Ebay sometime tomorrow...if any of you ladies out there are interested in purchasing it, just email me for more details...

This beautiful lap quilt I finished working on the other day, and it has sold to one of my sweet buyers....

Next I am going to start working on some cute embellished washcloths, which I haven't created any in a while.....I have some really nice soft pale pink cotton washcloths that I purchased some time ago, and decided it was high time to work on them, lol :) I'll post pics of them once I have a few made for you to see.

New Vintage Pink Rose Plates for Pink Saturday

Happy Pink Saturday everyone!! I know I'm a bit late, but better late than never, right, lol :) First, I want to give a big shout out to our Hostess with the Mostess, Miss Beverly of How Sweet the Sound, for once again allowing us to show all our pinks for everyone to see....this is such a fun party!!!

A short time ago I was lucky enough to win an auction on Ebay for 6 beautiful Vintage pink rose plates, and so a couple of days ago I put together a sweet little vignette with some of them, along with some vintage pink glasses and plates, pretty pink napkins embellished with both vintage jewels and newer crown pins....

Aren't these plates just so perfectly shabby, but oh so chic!! Love them!!!

Gotta have some bling, right ladies :)

For the centerpiece of the tablescape is a vintage tray painted shabby white, with beautiful pink roses and my pink reindeer, and a couple of vintage shabby candleholders, with of course, pink candles....

Also for Pink Saturday I thought I would show you a couple of items that I have that are currently available.....first is this sweet accent pillow featuring the lovely Lady with the pink hat and roses, which you will find in my Ebay shoppe....

Now how did this picture get in here, lol.....this was taken of my Grandson Seth on Thanksgiving day....isn't he just too cute in his "My First Thanksgiving" shirt! I got to watch him last night for a few hours, and LOVED every minute he was here!! When he smiles at you, it just melts my heart ♥♥

Christmas Decorating ~ 2011

Hi everyone!! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends ~ We had a simple meal with our family; our son Austin, and son Brian, who is home from College for the Holiday weekend, and our daughter Amber, SIL Kevin, and of course, our sweet little grandson Seth :) I love cooking dinner for Thanksgiving, with the Turkey and homemade stuffing...yummy!!

Yesterday I put up our christmas tree, as is tradition here, on the day after Turkey day ~ it will stay up until New Years day, then it will all be packed up for next season.....why is it so much fun to put everything up, but such a chore to put it all away ? It seems to always take so much LONGER to pack it up than to put it up?

It's was a very dreary and cloudy day today when I took the pictures you see below, so the photos are not the greatest :( I took a photo of the tree both lit and not lit for you to see....

These next 5 photos are of some of the ornaments that I have gracing the tree...a lot of you will notice some that are by REBECCA...my newest one this year that I purchased from her is in the 2nd photo.... a sweet pink stocking with her gorgeous handpainted pink roses, and the word NOEL....

Next up is my Fireplace all decked out in shabby pink & white for the Holidays...

I've moved my Fireplace to my Dining Room ~ Pretty pink Stocking

Yesterday I decided to do some re-arranging of some furniture in my home ~ I've moved my Fireplace & overmantle from my living room into my Dining room ~ boy am I tired!! Not only did I have to move it, but also the side-by-side Victorian Secretary, our sofa, and my chair....which none of these things is light! I did wait until my son came home from school yesterday afternoon to have him help me lift the overmantle back on top of the fireplace surround, and attach it to the wall. I really liked having the fireplace in my Living room, but I had to have my chair which I always sit in, placed over half way in front of it, and I really didn't like it....where it is now in the Dining room, nothing blocks it view, and I can really enjoy it much more. Sadly, though, there was no room left for the wicker loveseat that I did have in there, so it had to go to the basement :( Oh well, I can always put it out on our front porch next spring and summer, and enjoy it for a while out there.

As you can see, I've placed a couple of pretty pink stockings on it...the longer one is for me, which I showed you a picture of in my last post, and the smaller one is now listed on Ebay.

Here is a much better picture of the stocking..it's a couple of inches smaller than the one that I created for myself, but made with many of the same fabrics and embellishments...you can click HERE to take a look at it.

I'm off now to work on another sweet and pretty in pink stocking for Ebay ~ Hubby is off hunting today as it's Opening Gun season....and Austin has the day off today from school, as Grant closes for Opening Day! He didn't want to go hunting today...I think it's because he doesn't like to get up early if he doesn't have too, LOL :)

A Reindeer Makeover ~Pretty in Pink Stocking for me ~ Holiday Giveaway Continues!

Hello everyone! I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend so far. Yesterday while doing some last minute grocery shopping, I made sure to stop off at one of my favorite Goodwill stores to see what might be waiting there for me to take home, and I found a couple of things, one of which being this fab metal reindeer! They also had another one, more in a lying down position, but you could tell that the head had been glued back on, so I decided to pass on it. Below is how it looked before I gave it a little transformation.....

And here it is all painted up pretty in pink.....I also added a bow of Vintage soft pink ribbon, a Vintage Millinery soft pink rose, and for a little bling, a Vintage Rhinestone pin in a snowflake design... what do you think?

I've been busy creating stockings to sell on both my Ebay and Etsy sites, and today I FINALLY created one just for ME....It's made with soft pale pink Matelasse, Vintage Crochet & lace trims, Vintage Shell buttons, Vintage ribbons, and both a Vintage Pink rose and newer creamy white parchment roses. I plan to make one more stocking for myself to display in my home for the Holidays, and I'll be sure to show you once I've made it...it will of course be done in pinks :)

Preview of Fabulous Items coming to my Ebay Shoppe

Happy Monday to all my sweet blogging friends, and Happy Halloween! My daughter is planning to take my sweet little grandson trick-or-treating tonight, and will be stopping by here, of course.....we went shopping Friday afternoon to find him a cute little costume, and found the perfect one at Walmart...he's going to be a cow! The ears and feet of the costume were pink, so I picked up some black felt, and cut pieces to fit inside of the ears to cover up the pink, and stitched them on, and all I had to do for the pink feet was remove the fabric, as there was black underneath. I'll be sure to take a couple of pics of him, and hopefully show you tomorrow :)

I thought I would give you all a sneek peek as to what will be listing sometime this week in my Ebay and Etsy shoppes.....I have WAY TO MUCH stuff in my home, and I really need, well, shall we say, "purge" some things, and below are pics of what I am willing to part with so far....I'm still going thru things, so there will be more great things to come!

The pretty scrolly frame you see below is vintage, and was made in Italy...I found 2 of these frames, and am keeping one for myself, and parting with the other ~ they were originally bronze in color, but I painted them my favorite Dover White...

I do plan to subscribe, but I need to really save my pennies, etc...etc..., before I can do so!

Consignment Shoppe Treasures ~ Big Score at Goodwill & Christmas Pillow

Good Monday to you all!! This morning I decided to go out and do a little treasure hunting at my local Consignment shoppe and Goodwill store, and boy did I find some really fabulous things!

Below are photos of what I found at the Consignment Shoppe in Newaygo...a fabulous shabby plate holder, and I don't have to do a thing with it! A couple of pretty crochet doilies, and a lovely bouquet of pink and creamy white faux roses....

But my biggest score of the day ladies, is what I found waiting for me at Goodwill!!! 4 boxes of wonderful Millinery flowers!!! It was all I could do NOT to scream with excitement!! LOL :) Be still my heart ♥ So yes, you'll be seeing these beauties used in future creations!

And check out my super cute Grandson!! Isn't he just adorable wearing his Cow hat that my niece Susan made for him!

Finally, here is the Christmas pillow that I mentioned in yesterdays post...I'll be listing it on Ebay later today, so keep an eye out for it....

New Christmas Stockings coming soon & New photo of Grandson

Goodness, I can't believe it's Wednesday already...where is the time going! Today I have my appointment for my yearly exam, and I also scheduled an appointment for later this month for my very first Mammogram!! And since this is Breast Cancer awareness month, It's the perfect time to have it done.

Yesterday I was busy working in my little sewing room creating some new pretty in pink Xmas stockings that will be listing soon on both Ebay and Etsy, and I'll be creating more this week and next ~ last year I think I sold 30 stockings on Etsy for the Holidays! I need to get my "you know what" in gear and get more made! Creating these stockings are just so much fun for me ~ so many pretty fabrics and trims that can be used to make them ~ my head is literally swimming with ideas for more!!

I'll also be creating just a few Holiday Christmas pillows this year ~ this is one that is currently listed on Ebay ~ if you'd like to check it out just click the link on my right sidebar to take you there...

And of course, I just had to show you the newest photo of my sweet Grandson ~ He's 1 month old now! I so wish he were still alive to be able to see his very first Great-Grandchild, but I know he can see him up in heaven, and is smiling down at him.

Lampshade makeover ~ Etsy Find ~ New pics of Grandson

Hello everyone!! Hope you are all having a fabulous weekend so far ~ we've been having some wonderful warm weather here in Michigan for the past several days, and I'm loving it!! This morning I went around and picked up all my yard decorations that I had in my landscaping, and put them away for the upcoming winter, and took all the furniture and "stuff" off from the front porch and stored it away...it looks so bare now :( I've got some corn stalks from our garden that I'm going to bundle up and wrap and place them on either side of our front porch steps for some nice fall decoration.

The other day I did a makeover of a lampshade that I found at one of my local Goodwill stores a while back, and wanted to show you a couple of pics of it ~ It has a nice soft pale pink cotton fabric now on it, with pink gimp trim, and at the bottom is some Vintage fringe trim from an old chenille bedspread. The finishing touch is a new pink rose pin.

And look at these fabulous Vintage candleholders that I found while doing some searching on Etsy!! I plan to buy some of that fabulous Cottage White spray paint by Valspar that is sold at Lowe's that Miss Rebecca, over at A Gathering Place, has been talking about, and will make them look so perfectly Shabbylicious!!

Now you know I have to show you all some new pics of my sweet Grandson, Seth!! Amber took these a week ago, when is was 3 weeks old....love this one! He's just kickin' back and "chillin", LOL :)

Awwww, isn't he just the cutest!!! Don't you just want to smother that adorable face with kisses...I know I do :) He is officially 1 month old as of yesterday, 10-08. It doesn't seem like it!

Hope everyone had a great weekend ~ Friday night was our Son's Homecoming game, which was a very cold and windy night to be playing football ~ sadly we lost our game against Ludington, 14-28 :( They have not been having such a great year compared to last year, where our Varsity team was 6-0 by this time.....right now we are 2-4...you win some, you lose some.

Working on some pretty Display Towels

Hello everyone!! I am working on some new pretty embellished display handtowels this week, and wanted to show you the first one that is finished and now listed on Ebay ~ you can click the picture on my right sidebar to take you to the listing. This one is made with some pretty quilting squares, and they are all fabrics by Rachel Ashwell. I plan to make another handtowel with more of these pretty squares, and a couple with some pretty rose fabrics ~ so if I'm not around much here in blogland, you know why, lol :)

Tomorrow we have someone coming out to check our washing machine, as it seems to be leaking water out from under the bottom ~ good thing we purchased a 5 year warranty on it (we bought the set 3 years ago), so we don't have to pay to have it fixed!

Finished Rachel Ashwell Squares Quilt

Happy "hump" day everyone! Today I finished working on a sweet quilt that I posted about a few posts back, and wanted to share some pics of it with you ~ I won this quilt kit on Ebay from Abbie's Ebay store, Specialjays, and I am so thrilled with how it turned out! It came with all the squares and the strips for the sides, and I added the flirty pleated pink ruffle and the backing fabric, which is also fabric from Rachel Ashwells Simply shabby chic line (actually, it was a valance that I found at Goodwill), and was just waiting for the right project to use it on.

This is where I have it displayed.......for now ~ I know I will be moving it around and putting it in different areas of my home over time, lol :)

Some Goodwill Treasure Makeovers & new pics of my Grandson

Hello Everyone! I hope you all have been having a great week so far :) Today I wanted to show you some great Goodwill treasures that I have found recently that I've given a shabby, but of course, oh-so-chic makeover to ~ first up is this really sweet little demi-lune table ~ it does have some minor issues with it, mainly some missing pieces of veneer, so painting it was the best course of action ~ I painted it a very nice soft pale pink, and I plan to put it in our little entry-way off of our living room.

Next is this fabulous vintage silverplated tray ~ loved the details on this with the handles and the sweet feet on the bottom ~ I painted it my favorite shabby white paint, Dover White, by Krylon Fusion....

And next up is this Gorgeous Vintage Syroco mirror ~ orignally a gold tone color, I painted this too the Dover White, and it now hangs in my Living Room...

Vintage Toleware Bed Crown ~ Now on Ebay!

Some of you may remember me posting about this fabulous vintage toleware bed crown/canopy a while back, and I chose to keep it for myself for a while to enjoy and display in our master bedroom, well now I have finally decided to part with it (am I crazy?), and have now got it listed in my Ebay shoppe ~ if you are interested in it, you can go HERE to check it out.

Today I spent most of the day over at Amber's helping her out taking care of Seth so that she could get some rest, as the little stinker pretty much stayed awake almost all night! Introducing Seth William McKinlay

Oh my goodness, what a LONG couple of days it has been.....but my sweet precious grandchild has made his way finally into the world!!! He was born at 2:31 a.m. this morning, so yes, his birth-day is 9-10-'11!! How awesome is that :) He weighed in at 8 lbs. 3.1 oz., and 20" long.

Here is Amber just moments after giving birth holding her precious son....I am soooo very proud of her, she was in such misery and so tired, but she did what she needed to do to bring him into this world....such strength she showed!! I love you sweet baby girl!!!

Grandchild Update

Hi everyone, just wanted you all to know that Amber is in the early stages of Labor right now.....I went with her to her Doctor's appointment this morning, as she called me to let me know she had started to have a little bit of contractions, and wanting me to take her to the appointment ~ she's only dialated between 1-2 centimeters, as of this morning ~ the contractions she is having are rather irregular, sometimes within 4 minutes, then not for another 10 minutes or so. And, unfortunately, she is having some back labor :( I think that is the WORST labor to have, as I had that with my youngest, Austin, and it hurt like a "you know what!" She's home right now, trying to get some laundry and things done ~ the doctor told her she should be up and around for a while, then rest for a little bit, then repeat, lol, that way she doesn't just lie around, which could slow down the contractions or make them stop. I've been calling her on the hour to see how she's doing ~ If she thinks she needs to go to the hospital, then she is to call me, and I'll be right there to take her, as I'm only about 10 minutes away from their home. Kevin is at work, and it would take him about 45 minutes to get home...this way he can just go straight to the hospital. However, he should be home in about the next couple of hours or so.

I'm getting pretty excited, and very nervous here ladies!! I just want this to go okay for her, and to have this precious little boy be here soon :)

My Niece's New Etsy Shoppe & What I'm working on

Hi Everyone! I hope you are all having a wonderful Labor Day Weekend with family and friends. Ours could have started off better ~ we had a really bad rain storm come thru West Michigan Early Saturday morning, and with the high winds, it knocked out power for several counties, including Newaygo county, which we live in, and we just got our power back today at 4:30 p.m.!! We had a Fish fry here yesterday, and thankfully the weather was nice by that time, and everyone had a good time, and lots to eat, regardless of the fact we had no power! :)

First, I wanted to let you know of something that I started working on a couple of days ago....I purchased this quilt kit from Abbie, over at Specialjays on Ebay, that has 81 5 inch square fabrics and side strips, with gorgeous Rachel Ashwell rose fabrics. It is going to be such a beautiful quilt when I get it all finished, and yes, I will be sure to post about it when I do :)

My main reason for doing this post today, is to let you all know about a new shoppe on Etsy, that was just recently opened by me sweet Niece, Susan, called LeeCrochet, and she is offering up the cutest Infant and Toddler/Child size hats that she crochets ~ she is also welcoming custom orders, if there is something special that you would like her to make. So I hope you will stop on over and check out what she has to offer up so far ~ below are just a couple of the cutest hats she has listed....

An Antique Find ~ Halloween Pillows ~ Austin's New Football Photo

Good Tuesday Morning everyone! Today I thought I would show you some really beautiful rose plates that I found at a local Antique Mall in our neighboring town of Newaygo while out-and-about yesterday ~ they are a set of 6 sweet handpainted pink rose plates, about 6" in diameter. Some of them are marked Silesia on the back. I LOVE it when I can find a set of matching vintage rose plates to add to my collection. I do love me some handpainted pink rose plates, LOL :)

Just look at these gorgeous pink roses ladies.....oh yes!!

Also yesterday while out and about, I stopped at the fabric store and purchased some pretty Fall colored fabric, and came home and created these 2 lovely One-of-a-Kind Halloween pillows, which are now listed on Ebay. I don't make very many Halloween pillows, as I don't really do much decorating in my home for this holiday, so I just make a couple or so of these to offer up, for those you do love to decorate in these fall colors. ~ There is a link on my right side-bar that will take you right to my Ebay listings if you would like to take a better peek at them.

And here is my son Austin's new Varsity Football photo. Our scanner on our printer is no longer working, so I had to take a picture with my camera of this photo, then upload it to our computer. Not sure why the scanner isn't working...very frustrating! Hubby mentioned about maybe looking into getting a new printer/scanner. So hopefully I'll find something that I think will work best for all the things I have to do on it. The printing aspect of it works just fine, but not the scanner aspect of it? We've had it for a few years, so I guess it's probably time to get a new one...but I really like this one :(

I can't get over how much older he is looking! He's my baby!! Okay, my 16 year old baby, lol :) I know, I know, they do grow up.... :)

Well, that's about it for this post....today I will be doing a little bit of housecleaning, and finishing up a cute rosey pillow that I started working on a couple of days ago. And watching some of my favorite ABC soaps....I'm still sad that All My Children and One Life to Live will be off the air soon...I've been watching these since I was in high school!! Oh well :(

Fabulous Vintage Brass & Crystal Wall Sconce

Hello & Happy Weekend everyone! I wanted to share with you this fabulous Vintage Brass & Crystal wall sconce that I had just got delivered this morning, and of course, went right to work on given it a shabby white makeover, lol :) I won this beauty on Ebay a couple of days ago ~ I've been wanting to get one of these, the kind that you can plug into the wall instead of having it hard-wired, but they are usually rather pricey....this one I won at a pretty decent price, so I'm quite happy :) For now I have this pretty soft pink shade on it, but I think I want something a little bit different...but it works for now :)

My son Austin, is playing Varsity Football this year (he was JV last year), and last night was our Tiger's first game against Shelby....I'm sad to say that are Tiger's lost, 7-29. At least they managed to score a touchdown towards the end of the last quarter, so it wouldn't be a complete shut-out! Austin is number 89 :) Hopefully they will bounce back and win the next game on Thursday night...it's a home game, so they will have lots of Tiger fans rooting them on.

And one last thing before I go....I've had a custom banner & avatar created for my Etsy shoppe, and I would love for you all to hop on over and take a look at it...it's just soooo perfect! Debbi, at Cottage Garden Banners created this custom one-of-a-kind set for me, and I am over-the-moon thrilled with it. Some Goodwill ~ Consignment Shoppe & Etsy Treasures

Hello everyone! Today I thought I would show you some treasures that I found at some of my favorite places to shop at....first up is this fabulous vintage Tea/Coffee pot that I found at our local Goodwill store a few weeks ago. I think I paid around $8 for it...there is no makers mark on it, but I think it probably comes from Germany...

A while back I purchased the Vintage Wallpaper dresser you see below from a seller on Etsy....this pic shows how it looked before.....

and here is what it looks like now....I applied some gorgeous Vintage pink rose wallpaper on it, and I LOVE how it turned out!

right now it still has it's original plastic ring pulls on the drawers, but some day I hope to find some cute little vintage knobs to replace them with...

I found this sweet Vintage filigree frame yesterday at another nearby Goodwill store...I usually paint them white, but for this one I decided to paint it pink....I have this sweet Victorian girl print in it for now....

I also found this cute vintage glass bottle, with a cork top....painted the cork soft pink, and then embellished it with one of Christie Repasy's pretty rose decals that she sells on her website....I like it!

Lastly, I found this adorably sweet & cute white teddy bear at a local Consignment shoppe...she already came with the sweet pink ribbon bow & roses upon her head, and the lace collar too! I really like her :)

Hello everyone! I've had a super busy weekend! There were 2 Baby showers that were held this weekend for my daughter Amber, the first being Saturday at her Grandmother-in-law's, and another one today hosted by her Mother-in-law, and her sister. I took lots of pictures of both, but found that many of them turned out rather blurry because Amber kept moving too much, lol :) So I am showing you some of the ones that actually turned out good.

Here is a much needed item....a stroller/car seat set....she already has the carseat placed in her car :)

These next photos are from the Shower held today, which was at Nicole's house, who is the sister to Amber's Mother-in-law, Shelly. Aren't these clothes so cute!!!!

This toy for soon-to-be baby Seth is really neat, but it does make some loud noises! That might drive Amber a little crazy, lol, but I think her husband Kevin will love it....they were joking around saying that he'll probably play with it alot, lol :)

This is a crib bedding set she got that was on her registry...she's doing Seth's room in a farm theme, and this will look perfect in it :)

and here is the cake from this shower....the cute little blue booties have it where you can write the weight, length, time of birth and date on the bottoms of them....isn't that so neat!

I tell ya, this baby will not want for anything for quite some time...she received tons of wonderful things from all 3 showers that she can use! Lots of fun was had at all 3 of them!

And an update about Austin's Road test....he sadly failed the parking aspect of it on Thursday, so we rescheduled it for again this Saturday (yesterday).....had him practice a TON of times doing the parallel parking....and I am happy to report he PASSED everything!! So......that means tomorrow morning we will be heading to the Secretary of State's Office to get him his license. And you know what that means....lots of worrying about him driving all by himself, and waiting anxiously for him to come home SAFELY!

Well, that's about all for this post....I'll be working in my little sewing room later this week, creating some new pretty and rosey pillows for Ebay :) So until next time sweet friends!

More New Pretty in Pink Pillows for Ebay

Goodness, It's been a whole week since I last posted!! Where-oh-where does the time go? I've been busy these last few days creating some new pretty pillows for Ebay ~ and this past Saturday we had got together with family members on my mother's side for lunch....got to see my Aunts and Uncles and cousins that I don't get to see very often, exept, sadly, at funerals. This is something that we will be doing 3 times a year...the first Saturday in November, the First Saturday in April, and the First Saturday in August (except this month). It was a lot of fun!

Also this past Saturday, Austin sprained his left ankle during Football practice ~ it's slowly getting better ~ the coach is taping it up nice and tight so he can continue to practice this week. I just told him to be careful NOT to do anything to his right leg, ankle, etc... as this Thursday he will be taking his road test to get his license!!! Eeegads!!! My baby driving ALL BY HIMSELF!!! Why must our children grow up :(

Amber's Baby Shower ~ August 6th, 2011

Hi Everyone! Well, you know how I told you in my previous post that the day of my daughter's baby shower was SUPPOSE to be nice...no rain? Guess what it did that morning? Yup, it rained :) Wahhhh!! We had all the tables set out on our side deck Friday night, and I was going to finish decorating first thing Saturday morning....but instead, we had to scramble to bring all the tables and chairs into our Pole Barn, and get things set up in there. I DID NOT want to have it in our Pole barn, as that's where all my hubbys stuff is kept....which you will see in the photos below.....there was no hiding any of it :( But even though we had to have it in there, it still was a huge success for Amber, and everyone had a wonderful time, though it was VERY warm in there, even with having the large main door open...all that body heat :) I think there was a total of about 24 or 25 of us ladies in there, plus a baby and toddler! I had planned to take photos of everyone that came, but I was way too busy, and I had handed my camera off to my niece Krystal to take photos while Amber was opening her gifts....I did manage to take a few myself of some of the ladies who were there, and the tables that would serve for Lunch, cupcakes & cookies, and for the gifts. Krystal had takens photos of EVERYTHING she got, but I will show you all just some of them :)

These first seven photos, (except the 2nd photo) are pics that I took....and this first picture is of my sweet Baby girl Amber...

Here is Amber and I.....

The pics of the tables and some of our party guests... that brown thing you see peaking out from under the table is the Pack-n-play that we got for them, but we couldn't get it set up as there was no room :(......darn that rain!! LOL :)

Here are some of the things that she received from family & friends....

One of the games we played was called, "Baby Shower Left & Baby Shower Right", which you read a story, and everytime you hear the word "right" you pass the prize bag to the person on the right, and everytime you heard the word "left", you pass it to the person on your left.....I heard a LOT of moans and laughing going on while reading the story...even I started having a difficult time reading it because I too would start laughing. Because there were so many ladies, I had 2 prize bags, and started one at the farthest end of the circle from me, and one closest to me...that game was a huge hit!

Well, today is all about cleaning up...doing laundry... then sitting back and watching the Nascar race this afternoon. Tomorrow I will begin on creating some new pretty pillows and 2 pretty pink embellished handtowels to list on either Ebay or Esty....I'll post pics of those when they are finished for you to see :)

Countdown to Baby Shower

Hi Everyone! Hope you all have been having a wonderful weekend ~ I'm going to be taking a wee little break from my blog until after the Baby Shower for my daughter, which is this Saturday ~ and so far the forecast is calling it to be a good day....no rain....no heatwave...Whoot! Whoot!

I've mentioned in past posts that I haven't been able to do any sewing because my room has been taken over with stuff for the shower....as you can see by the first photo, the bed is full of things :)

These are some little Thank-You bags that I put together for everyone who comes...inside behind the cute little card is some yummy Raspberry filled chocolate :)

This will be the centerpiece for the Gift table...

These are the Gift bags for the winners of the games we'll be playing... the games are: Thank-you card draw.....Don't Say Baby.....Baby Shower Left & Baby Shower Right....Guess What's in the Bag...and a Word Scramble game.

These purple bags are the prize bags that Amber will get for each game played...she gets one automatically :)

Did my Hubby do good Ladies?

First, I think that what ever problem I was having accessing my blog is done with.....I'm going to keep my fingers, arms, legs, toes, etc... crossed that it is....it is NOT fun when you can't connect to your blog!!

Okay, Saturday my hubby went to go visit his dad and step-mother, and on his way there he stopped at a couple of sales, and at one of them he found this fabulous Vintage pie plate holder ~ I didn't think to take a before pic, but it was orginally a dull silver color, and it has these sweet plastic white beads on it, which I kept ~ but I did give it a shabby and oh-so-chic makeover by painting it...yes...my FAVORITE pink color by Krylon Fusion called Fairytale Pink ~ I LOVE this paint because you don't have to use a primer first.

I love the Filigree details on it....

And the sweet Swag design too...

A while back I purchased a set of 3 pretty Vintage rose plates, and they are perfect displayed on this stand....

Isn't this so fabulous ladies!! Sometimes my hubby doesn't do too well in finding things for me, but sometimes he can really hit the jackpot!! :) I plan to use this for the Baby Shower for my daughter to hold the sandwiches on :)

Some new Pink Pretties on Ebay

Hello everyone ~ I wanted to show you all some new Vintage pretties that I have listed on my Ebay, but I also wanted to find out if anyone has been having problems accessing their blogs? Since the afternoon that I did my previous post about being featured in the Italian magazine, Casa Romantica Shabby Chic, I have been unable to get to my blog ~ sometimes I can get to it, though barely briefly, then I can't connect to it at all. Today I was able to get to my Dashboard, so that I could do this post, and to find out if anyone else is having problems, or if it's just me....perhaps something with my Internet provider, which is AT&T. If any one else is having a problem, or know what might be causing the problem, I would really appreciate hearing from you......that is, if I can get to my Blog again to read comments :(

Some VERY EXCITING NEWS~all the way from Italy!

Hello Everyone!! I can FINALLY tell you guys my exciting news!! I was just waiting for the magazine to arrive before doing a post about it, and it just arrived today, WHOOT!! WHOOT!!! Back on April 8th of this year, I received an email from Cinzia D'Agostino, who is the editor of the Italian magazine, CASA ROMANTICA SHABBY CHIC, asking if she could write an article about me, my home, my blog, and my creations. At first I didn't know if this was a legitimate email, so I emailed Miss Fifi O'Niel, to find out if this was indeed from this person.....she emailed me back and said, "yes, and to send her whatever she requests".....so, after some trial and errors in sending photos to her, and emailing her all the information she needed to do the article for their next issue, It has FINALLY been done :) I can not tell you how thrilled and honored it is to be featured in this beautiful magazine! I NEVER in my wildest dreams thought that I would EVER be featured in any magazine, and to actually be, is just so amazing!! I am STILL on cloud 9 right now ladies!!

They did an 18 page spread with most of the photos that I sent to her, and I think they did an AMAZING job!! A Fabulous new Find ~ Lower Price on ALL my Stockings in my Etsy Shoppe

Good Sunday evening to you all :) I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend. I'm still trying to get thru all you ladies who had participated in the Where Bloggers Create party, and I still have a LONG way to go before I get to you all, but I'm working on it a little bit each day :) I've seen some really amazing spaces that you all create in, and I look forward to seeing more!

I wanted to show you this truly AMAZING find at my local Goodwill store earlier in the week....I couldn't believe my eyes when I spied it! And I got if for a really good price too...can't beat that! It's a Vintage Tole Bed Canopy! And it even still had the original tie back holders! I don't think I've ever seen one listed on Ebay that did...can ya say "SCORE!" I couldn't wait to get it home and put it up above our bed...as you can see it JUST fits, as the wall slopes a bit at this end of our room.....the curtains that I have on it now were hanging in our little front entryway....I've placed a smaller valance at that window...these curtains look nice and will do for now, but someday I hope to find just the right vintage lace panels to place in it....

It still has all of it's pretty soft pink toned flowers, but at the top it is missing some of the leaves, which is not that big of a deal to me...

Here is a close-up of one of the tiebacks.... okay, that is the strap to a ticket holder from when we had gone to one of the Nascar Races a couple of years ago here in Michigan, at the Michigan International Speedway...of course, I HAD to get the one with Jeff Gordon's name on it, DUH!! lol :)

Where Bloggers Create 2011

Hello everyone! I am participating in the Where Blogger's Create Party for the 1st time, and am so excited! I can't wait to see all the other wonderful places that all the talented ladies, and gentlemen, create their wonderful treasures in :) I want to give a big Thank You to Karen, at My Desert Cottage, for hosting this wonderful blog party for the 3rd year! Okay, now on to showing you ladies where it is that I do my creating in.....first, I want to let you know that the photos you will be seeing were taken a couple or so weeks ago....it has now been taken over by things for my daughter's Baby Shower :)

The room that I work in, use to be my daughter's room, but when she married almost 2 years ago, I transformed it into my "sewing room"....this is a sign that was custom made for me, and it hangs on the door that leads into the room...

starting from the left of the doorway, is this Vintage pink hamper that I use to store bits and pieces of leftover fabric in....you never know when you might need just a little piece of something to use in a pillow or stocking....

above the hamper hangs this Vintage cabinet, which I painted white, then added a bit of pretty Vintage Rose Wallpaper to it....it simply holds some sweet little treasures that I like to look at....

next to the cabinet is a beautiful painting done by Cindy Ellis....I bought this from a seller on Ebay....isn't is just gorgeous....I do like me some roses, lol :)

This is a cabinet purchased at Target, from the Rachel Ashwell Simply Shabby Chic line....it holds my finished items and other things like my sewing thread, Vintage items that I am selling, and on the top you will see a sweet little vintage cabinet that I painted white, and in the drawers it holds some of the jingle bells I use on my stockings, little charms, and also my little "Thank You" note cards that I include with every package I ship out....

Next up, is this fabulous Antique Victorian Bed....it had to stay in this room, but it was originally brown, but I told hubby, that if it's stayin' it's gettin' painted white! I think it looks Perfect ~ I've dressed it up with a Vintage Chenille bedspread, a pink rose quilt at the foot of the bed, and the 2 rosey pillows were created by me, with Vintage Rose barkcloth and trims....the bed serves as my "work table", so to speak.....

A vintage tray holding some sweet vintage treasures....just for looks :)....

There's a shelf on the wall next to the bed, that holds more pretties and Vintage treasures, including a fabulous Vintage pink rose hat, which I LOVE to collect....

Next to the bed is a sweet little round table that holds a Vintage crystal lamp, and I had topped it with another one of my Vintage rose hats...it has since been replaced with a refurbished lampshade that I created for it....

Doesn't it look so romantic all lit up :)

Another sweet shelf I painted up white, and it too holds some sweet pretties and Vintage treasures....I like to be surrounded with things that bring a smile to my face :).....

Yup, I still have this OLD sewing table that I use to do my sewing on....one day I hope to find just the right style and size table to take it's place...until then it works just fine....the sewing maching with the cover on it is used strictly for making ruffles, and the other machine does all the rest....you can see I had started working on a cute pillow (remember, these pic's were taken over 2 weeks ago....I STILL haven't finished that pillow, lol )

And here is the cabinet that holds all my fabrics....the pretty boxes on top hold all my laces, trims, flowers, etc....not shown in this picture, behind the door, is an old metal shelf that holds my radio, 'cuz I like to listen to 'tunes sometimes while I'm working, plus other things I had no room for, lol :) The wall to the left is where the closet is, and that is where I keep all my packaging supplies and such in, and out of sight....

Hello everyone....I know, this would have been a perfect post for Pink Saturday, but we've been so busy working on things around the house this weekend, that I just didn't have the time :( .......But, I did want to show you all these fabulous vintage items that I've given a shabby pink makeover to, and they are all now listed on EBAY, if you'd like to check them out...

I have FINALLY finished my G-baby's Blanket!

Hi Everyone! I hope you all had a fabulous 4th of July weekend ~ as I mentioned in my previous post, we had a get-together over at my brother & sister-in-law's house on Sunday, as my nephew was home on leave...he was suppose to fly back to Alaska yesterday, but he managed to get his leave extended until the 24th...but that means it will be even longer before he will be able to get another leave :( We have also been working on power washing the exterior of our home ( which it needed DESPERATELY!!) Having a soft yellow house is nice, but boy does it show the dirt so easily!

Anyhoo :), I wanted to show you a couple of pictures of the completed blanket that I have been crocheting for my first grandchild ~ I just did a simple square design, with skeins of a soft multi-color, followed by a soft yellow, then soft green, then back to the multi-colored, a simple white, then finished with a "ruffle" of the soft green. Isn't it just sooooo sweet :) I had crocheted blankets for each of my 3 children, and made sure to have them done before they were born so that I could wrap them up with them when we brought them home :)

I hope to very soon be able to tell you about the "Exciting news" that I mentioned some time ago ~ I'm just waiting for "it" to arrive in the mail, which it is on it's way here from Italy :) What oh what could it be?

Hello and Happy Monday everyone ~ I can't believe that this month is almost over, and it will soon be July! Where or where is the time going? June has been a rather busy month for me....doing LOTS of work outside with our landscaping...we have 1 more area yet to work on, then it will be all done! We've also had 3 Graduation Open Houses that we have gone to, and my Nephew, Jon is home for just over a week; he's in the Air Force, and stationed up in Alaska. Goodwill Cabinet Makeover

Hello everyone, and Happy Wednesday ~ or Hump-day, lol :) I'm going to hurry and get this post done, as we have yet another one of those pop-up Thunderstorms bearing down on us ~ it's been the pattern since yesterday! I finially got the cabinet all made over that I posted about finding at Goodwill ~ I gave it a light sanding, had hubby add the beadboard to the back, then got her all primed and then painted my favorite Linen White.....and tah dah!! Here she is :)

I've got some of my pretty rose china and teacups placed on her, but am still kinda playin' around with it...

The mirror on top is a fabulous find I purchased from a seller on Etsy, PurpleFlowerFairy ~ she's a fellow Michigander, and she has some wonderful items for sale in her shoppe!

Yup, that is one of sweet Rebecca's sweet handpainted bunnies on top :)

Photos of our Landscaping and other stuff

Oh my, I can't believe it's been 10 days since my last post! Goodness ~ Well, I've got some photos to share with all of you ~ We've been doing a lot of work in our landscaping around our house; planting new pretty perennials, staining our side deck, putting in a new brick walkway off our front porch, and adding a smaller walkway off from that.

First, I want to show some photos of what's to come on Ebay, and some pretty finds I got today....

This is a pair of shabby style lamp bases that will be listing soon on Ebay..

Earlier today I went to a local consignment shoppe called The Corner Closet, and found this pretty pair of soft pale blue valances with gorgeous lace ~ I have these hanging up in the windows in my sewing room....

And I found this wonderful Victorian style small lampshade, that fits perfectly on one of the vintage lamps that I found last month at the Flea Market ~ I love the pretty ribbon rosettes!...

Below are photos to show you of our landscaping that surrounds the side and front of our house ~ you'll see 2 photos of the new climbing rose that I planted recently (and boy does it smell heavenly!), some of the beautiful Foxglove plants, our Rhododendrons, and the pretty Calla Lillies that I planted this spring.

Here you will see our new brick walkway, as well as the new stone path....

And here is our side deck with it's new Redwood stain...we need to put 1 more coat on, but need to wait a few days after we get thru these rainy days we are going to have...

This is my "Garden within a Garden" ~ inside of it are my Bleeding Hearts and my Astilbies...

I hope you've enjoyed seeing some of the photos around our house ~ we've still come some more work to do ~ more white stone to put out, and new Red Bark mulch to touch up in areas, but it should all be done in plenty of time for my daughter's Baby Shower, which will be August 6th ~ I'm planning to have it on our side deck, so please pray that the weather will be beautiful!

Pretty Vintage Rose Plates on Ebay

Happy Friday everyone!! I'm soooo glad it's the weekend finally ~ I've spent the last couple of days since my last post working on cleaning up my sewing room and taking photos for the "Where Bloggers Create" party for next month, and I'm exhausted, lol :)

New Pretty Embellished Handtowels and a Goodwill find

Happy Wednesday everyone!! It's gonna be another hot and humid day here in Michigan, so I'm spending most of my day inside our house with the Central air on, lol :) I wanted to show you ladies the 2 pretty embellished handtowels that I have now listed on Ebay ~ you will also find the link to my Ebay listings over on my right sidebar. ~ I also wanted to show you what I found Monday while visiting one of my local Goodwill stores...these sweet Vintage glass hobnail lamp bases!! Aren't they so wonderful! One of them I will be using in our Kitchen, and the other will be used in my sewing room. Speaking of my sewing room, I need to get busy and start cleaning that room up to get it ready for the "Where Blogger's Create" party!! So if I'm not around too much, you know why, lol :)

Re-arranging pretties in my Cabinet

Good Thursday evening to all my sweet bloggie friends :) I thought I would show you some pictures of my shabby Vintage cabinet that I have in my Dining room, that I have done some re-arranging of the china that I keep inside of it ~ First, I have removed the glass doors, to make it more open, and much better to see all the lovely china on it's shelves ~ Then I removed everything inside, dusted off the shelves, and re-arranged all the pieces and placed them on different shelves. I've also added on the top and the bottom shelf a Vintage filigree mirror, placed in the back, center, to add some interest and dimension to. I'm really liking how it all looks...what do you think?

Here on the top shelf I have placed my Lefton China pieces on, and some of my favorite teacups ~ hanging on the left side is a hanging Lavender scented Sachet that I created a while ago....

On the middle shelf I have one of sweet Rebecca's beautiful pillows taking centerstage, and I must say, this one is my favorite that I have of hers, as I just love the beautiful Vintage linen fabric in the center with the gorgeous pink roses ~ and of course, some more pretty rosey teacups and Teapots.....

and on the bottom shelf, yup, more pretty rosey and pink teacups, and a stack of pretty vintage rose plates, and a berry bowl set, embellished pink candle, and pretty pink vase....

I hope you have enjoyed seeing my Cabinet Re-do....I hope to get to work on that Vintage wall cabinet I purchased at Goodwill, which I showed you in my previous post....once it's all finished and up on the wall, I'll be sure to post about it for you to see :)

Flea Market Finds & Goodwill Treasure

Good Wednesday & First day of June everyone!! Goodness, I can't believe it's June already ~ time is just going by too fast. Today I thought I would show you the treasures I found when we went to Burlee Park on Memorial Day ~ This park hosts a Flea Market 4 times during the warmer months; the first being on Memorial Day, then on July 4th, the first Sat. or Sun. in August, Labor Day, and the first Sat. or Sun. in October. Memorial Day is the busiest one to attend ~ I swear, there were THOUSANDS of people there! And LOTS of vendors selling all kinds of stuff ~ some good, and well, some not so good. I did manage to find a few treasures to bring back home with me.....

First, I want to show you what I carried my treasures in.....we have 2 of these metal carts, and Sunday I literally threw together this cute liner to place inside of it....never made one of these before, so I kinda "winged" it, lol :) I think I did a pretty good job, but I do wish the cart had a square bottom, as it would have made it much more easier to make!

Okay, first up is this cute little pair of Vintage glass lamps....I was a little leary of purchasing them, not knowing if they were going to work....first thing I did when we got home was plug them in, and yup, they work just fine..YIPPEE!!

a cute metal candle holder....I've since painted a single layer of white on it, and I think I like it much better :)

a Vintage Aqua blue Ball mason jar, with it's original glass top...

a couple of pretty hankies and linen doily with crochet edge...

and lastly, some pretty vintage crochet trim that I can use on some new embellished handtowels that I will be working on in a few days....

Yesterday, I visited one of my local Goodwill stores, and look what was waiting there just for ME! Isn't this vintage shelf fabulous!! I've seen these kinds of shelves before in photos in magazines, and have wanted to find one for me, well, now I have one...WHOOT!! WHOOT!!. I hope to work on it this weekend; get it painted cottage white of course, then try to figure out just WHERE I'm going to hang it in my home.....my walls are FULL!! Don't fear ladies, I know I will be able to work it in somehow, LOL :)

New Pretty Embellished Handtowels & Washcloths

Good Friday morning everyone! First, I want to wish everyone a Very Happy & SAFE Memorial Day weekend ~ we're planning to do a few things around the house; plant our vegetable garden, and then on Monday, we'll be going to Burlee Park, which is just north of Howard City, Michigan, to a huge Flea Market that they have every year. We haven't been to it in about 2 years, so to say that I am EXCITED to be going, is an understatement! LOL :)

My First White Wednesday ~ Celebrating White Wednesday's 100th Post

Hello everyone!! I hadn't planned on doing another post 'till after my garage sale I'm having here, but when I found out that it was going to be Kathleen's 100th post for White Wednesday over at Faded Charm, I just had to join in on the celebration. Now, most of you know that my home is mostly decorated in pinks, but I do have a few things that are white, and am trying to bring more whites into my home. So I scrounged around and took a couple of photos of some whites to share with you all.

In this first photo I have put together a little vignette of some of the whites that I have...the white pitchers were both found at Goodwill, along with the mug, and the silver placed inside ~ the candlestick with the pink candle and the vintage shutter I purchased at a local Antique Mall, and the candleholder with the drippy prisms was an Ebay purchase.

I LOVE this birdcage...this was purchased at a garage sale about 3 years ago for $25, which I don't think is a bad price...

A vintage filigree mirror that I purchased at Goodwill, and painted it white.

Goodwill & Garage Sale finds ~ Flowers in our Gardens

Good Monday morning to you all! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend ~ I've been busy working on getting things ready for my Garage (Pole Barn) sale, which starts this Thursday. Got all the tables set up out there, and all the "stuff" brought out, now I just need to get it all arranged on the tables. So far the forcast for later this week is looking really good...no rain!! Yeah!!

Last Thursday my daughter and I hit a couple of sales; I found this cute print..

and this sweet little rosey swag, which I have in our main bathroom...

found this fabulous vintage wicker basket at Goodwill, and the pretty pink towels at one of the sales...

I've had a couple of bottles that I have been wanting to embellish, and finally did last week...the bottle on the left is vintage, and the heart-shaped one is a newer bottle, but I've had it for several years.

I thought I would also show you some of things in our landscaping around our home... this is just some of the Peonies that are coming up...there are even more on the other side. Most of them will have at least one bloom this year. I'm just thrilled that when I transplanted them last fall, they all pretty much survived!

Goodwill Chair Update

Hello everyone!! I wanted to update you on the sweet vintage chair that I found at Goodwill. The second photos shows you what it looked like....your typical brown stain, and awful vinyl chair cover, YUCK!!

Here she is all painted up pretty in pink, and with a new chair cover, which is this gorgeous Reproduction Barkcloth called Falling Roses from Urbangardens. The paint color is a very pale pink, called Spring Bloom, by Better Homes and Gardens, which is sold at Walmart.

Yup, this is what it use to look like...

Here it is displayed in our Living room....this isn't the room that I will be having it in; actually, I now have it in our Dining Room next to my white hutch....for now :)

And this sweet little reticulated metal napkin holder...I found 2 of these while out thrifting a couple of weeks ago, and painted them both pink, of course, and giving one to you and the other for me to keep :)

A Goodwill find

Happy Saturday everyone!! This morning I went to my local Goodwill store, and look what was waiting just for me to take home :) Yup, this wonderful Vintage chair ~ the price was $13, which I didn't think was too bad ~ In order to get it into my car (which is a Sunfire Convertible), I had to put the top down, and place the chair in the back seat, then put the top back up ~ good thing it's a nice day out today, lol :) As soon as I brought it into the house, and after taking the before shot, I removed the seat, removed the vinyl ( yes vinyl!!) seat cover; used it as my template to cut out the fabric for the new covering. I'm sure many of you can recognize this gorgeous Reproduction rose barkcloth fabric, which is exclusive to Urbangardens, and sadly, out of print :( It's called Falling Roses, and is my Favorite!! I have 3 yards of this fabric, and have been waiting for the RIGHT project to use some of it for, and this chair "fits the bill" ~ the next thing I will be doing to the chair is giving it a new paint color....I was thinking white, which would be the obvious choice, but I am REALLY leaning towards painting it a very soft pale pink. I think that with the fabric color background being a cottage white, and with the soft pale pink roses it has, a pale pink color for the chair would really make the fabric really stand out quite nicely. This endeaver will have to wait until later next week when I am out doing my weekly "shopping", which at that time I can purchase the paint. Don't worry my bloggie friends, I will keep you posted once I have it all painted up and ready for you all to see :)

Etsy Cottage Style Cottage Color Party

Good Monday morning everyone!! It's that time again for the Etsy Cottage Style's Cottage Color Party, and for the month of April the color is PINK!! Whoot! Whoot! Of course I had to join this month's party, as I have a ton of pink in my home....I've chosen just a few photos, so as not to overwhelm anyone, lol :) Don't want to put anyone into pink overload :)

First up is one of my Vintage rose hat's that I collect; this one is my favorite...

Next up is a couple of vintage rose teacups, from another one of my little collections...

A vintage bird cage that I purchased at a nearby Antique store a few years ago...it was originally brown, but I spray painted it pink, and added some pretty pink faux roses inside....

I also collect vintage rose plates, and this is one of my favorites.....

I just love vintage rose fabrics, and I created a lovely pillow out of this vintage Barkcloth era fabric....love the pink roses and other cottage florals ~ I framed it with some sweet vintage chenille fringe trim......

Okay, not this isn't anything old or vintage...my daughter and I went shopping last Friday, and I have been wanted to buy a pink purse, and so when we were at Kohl's I went straight to the purse section of the store and came across this gorgeous Sienna Ricchi bag, and snatched it right up! I am IN LOVE with this bag :) And it was half off!! Ahhh, I'm in heaven :)

Good Tuesday morning everyone!! The sun is shining today here in Michigan, after the cloudy and in some areas, snowy day yesterday. Most of the snow fell in the southern part of the state, from just north of Grand Rapids to the south. Here in Grant we did see a few flakes fall, but nothing that stuck...thank goodness!! The weather is saying that we could see a snow/rain mix tomorrow...ugghh!! It's spring for goodness sakes; it's suppose to be sunny and warm. Eventually winter will get the hint and finally go away, lol :)

Yesterday I embellished some vintage glass shakers with new and vintage millinery roses and ribbon trims, and will be listing them soon on both Ebay and Etsy. Each has their silver tops painted a pretty pink ~ these would be sweet to give as a gift for Mother's Day, Birthdays, Anniversary, or simply "just because".

A while back I entered a Giveaway at Brenda's blog,COZY LITTLE HOUSE, which was a chance to win this gorgeous handmade bag by Jana, whose blog is COLLECTED TREASURES for the HOME, HEART and SOUL, and I was the lucky winner!! This bag is 2DIE4!! It is created with lots of gorgeous vintage laces and a huge vintage millinery rose ~ I've chosen to display it on my Manny...she's stylin' now ladies :) Thank you Brenda for hosting this wonderful and generous giveaway, and Thank you Jana, for creating such a beautiful, gorgeous bag... Dining Room Photos ~ Just because

Hello everyone! I hope you all have been having a wonderful weekend ~ It has been GORGEOUS here in Michigan ~ yesterday it got in the low to mid 60's, and today it's even better, almost mid 70's...Whoot Whoot!! But, there is the threat of severe weather for later tonight and into tomorrow :( Yesterday, the sun was shining so brightly and so, for no apparent reason, I decided to take some photos of my Dining room..don't know why...just because, lol :) I have to tell you, my Dining room is my favorite room in the house...followed by our Living room. It's just so bright and light in there, with the pretty mini pink and white striped wallpaper and soft mauve colored carpet. Not to mention I love all the pretty things I have displayed on the walls.....so I thought I would do a post showing you the photos....most of you have seen pictures of this room before, but I've got several new followers who've signed on recently, and thought they might want to see this room. Like so many of you I love being able to see other peoples homes; how they decorate and how I can incorporate some of what I see into my own home.
